NOTICE OF ADJOURNED PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo, that pursuant to the provisions of the Town Law of the State of New York, a public hearing will be held at 7:00 o'clock P.M. (Prevailing Time) at the Ramapo Town Hall, 237 Route 59, Suffern, New York, 10901, on the 22nd day of January, 2020, to consider the adoption of a local law entitled
“A LOCAL LAW AMENDING ARTICLE XIV “TAX EXEMPTION FOR PROPERTIES PURCHASED BY NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AFTER TAXABLE STATUS DATE” BY EXTENDING THE TIME PERIOD FOR A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR A TAX EXEMPTION”which local law shall provide as follows:

LOCAL LAW NO. - 2019
A LOCAL LAW AMENDING ARTICLE XIV “TAX EXEMPTION FOR PROPERTIES PURCHASED BY NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
AFTER TAXABLE STATUS DATE” BY EXTENDING THE TIME PERIOD FOR A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION TO SUBMIT
AN APPLICATION FOR A TAX EXEMPTION
Section 1. Legislative Intent.
Pursuant to the Real Property Tax Law, the Town permitted non-profit organizations who purchase property after taxable status date to apply, within forty-five (45) days after the transfer of title to submit an application for tax exemption to the Assessor. The Town wishes to extend the time period for submission of an application to three hundred sixty five (365) days.
Section 2. Eligibility.
Amend Section 254-49(a) to read as follows:
Non-profit organizations who purchase property after the Town’s taxable status date, and who meets the requirements for tax exemption pursuant to §420-a or 420-b of the Real Property Tax Law may, within three hundred sixty five (365) days after the transfer of title may submit an application for tax exemption to the assessor pursuant to either §420-a(16) or §420-b(8).
Section 3. Effective Date.
This Local Law shall take effect immediately upon filing with the Secretary of State.
