Emergency Alerts
The Town of Ramapo provides an emergency notification and alert system to allow the public to be contacted by phone, text, and e-mail in case of emergency and non- emergency situations.
The Town of Ramapo has contracted with OnSolve, LLC. to use the CodeRED® system.
The CodeRED Emergency Notification System is a High volume - High speed Communication Service available for mass Emergency Notifications. CodeRED employs a one-of-a-kind Internet mapping capability for geographic targeting of calls, coupled with a high-speed telephone calling system capable of delivering customized pre-recorded emergency messages directly to homes and businesses at the rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour.
Notification information can also be sent out to those who follow the Town of Ramapo on social media via Twitter and Facebook.
All Town of Ramapo residents and businesses are strongly encouraged to register for CodeRED notifications. When registering, you may contribute additional information if you wish, such as mobile phone numbers, work telephone lines and alternate emergency contact information.
WHEN WILL CODERED BE USED?
Any message regarding the safety of our residents and community will be disseminated using CodeRED. We may send out CodeRED alerts in a variety of situations including Severe weather warnings, evacuation notices, police activity, fire emergencies, and more. We may also send CodeRED alerts for non-emergency situations such as major road closings, water service outages, or garbage collection and sanitation updates.
HOW WILL I KNOW WHEN CODE RED IS CALLING?
A CodeRED message will have the caller ID # 866-419-5000 for emergencies and caller ID # 855-969-4636 for non-emergencies. We suggest that residents program these numbers into their cell phone as a “new contact” and use “CodeRED” as the contact name. To replay the latest message received, simply dial the number and listen to the message again in its entirety.
WHY IS CODERED IMPORTANT?
CodeRED is an important to tool to help keep the public informed and prepared for any emergencies that may occur in the Town of Ramapo. Staff will send messages to alert residents of emergency details, instructions, or precautions that the public needs to know in order to make well-informed decisions. This system is precise enough to geo-target residents within an exact area of impact, so that only those people who are affected by an emergency situation are notified.
PRIVACY
All contact information provided remains private and is only used for pertinent emergency and non-emergency notification purposes. THE TOWN OF RAMAPO WILL NOT SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED FROM THIS WEB SITE WITH ANY UNRELATED THIRD PARTY. YOUR PRIVACY IS IMPORTANT TO US.
Text to Enroll
It is easier than ever to sign-up for CodeRED or encourage your friends and neighbors to enroll. Text "RAMAPO" to 99411 and you will receive a link to enroll in the system.
CodeRED Mobile Alert App
The CodeRED Mobile Alert App is available to download from your app store. Downloading the app does not register you in the Town of Ramapo CodeRED system.
Weather Warning
Weather Warning is an optional feature that will automatically notify registrants of tornado, flash flood, and severe thunderstorm warnings. The alerts will be delivered by phone, text, email, or a combination of all three based on personal preferences. Residents in the direct path of severe weather will receive alerts after a warning is issued by the National Weather Service.
In order to receive these notifications, select “Weather Warning” when you enroll in CodeRED or log-in to an existing account and select “Weather Warning”.
